    Studio: Broad 12

    Anitra Haendel was raised in Great Neck, NY but spent her summers in the Catskill mountains. She has a deep respect for nature and incorporates that respect into her paintings. She started studying painting over ten years ago at Brown University and continued in Florence Italy with mentors Rose Shakinovksy and Claire Gavronsky from Johannesburg, South Africa. She is thankful for all her teachers, most recently the faculty, staff and students at CalArts who she has spent the last two years with in meaningful discussion and dance parties.
