Elena Lavellés is an Spanish visual artist born in Madrid. Her practice is lead towards research and study of social behavior, focused on western countries. Her artistic strategies are based on creating places that involve observation, dialogue and understanding with the use of, mainly, installation, photo, video and drawing. Lavellés completed her degree on Fine Arts in Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a Masters program in Contemporary Art in the European University of Madrid. She is a member of the Calipsofacto Projects, an independent cultural curatorship based in Madrid. She has been awarded with different awards and scholarships, the most recent, Casa de Velázquez Residency Grant 2013.
